Militaria and Technology of the late 19th century to the end of World War 1. I have been collecting militaria since I was a kid and use my stuff in my videos to entertain? educate or you know talk about history with people who think it's interesting. God knows most of our house guests are oddly not interested in WWI helmets phones bayonets grenades' maps, uniforms canteens
Note I also have a decent collection of pole weapons dating to the 1500's as well as swords and someday I'll shoot vids on them.
I got ADHD they told me I think I wasn't paying attention so I go off topic with some rascally vulgarity filled animated shorts, abandoned places, diving and travel or who knows
note I have had the channel since 2007 and some of the old vids are a bit cringe but I have come to accept it and don't want to take em down. If you have corrections on my vids please share in comments - if you don't like my videos because they are bad - just sit quiet.

WWI American Anti Aircraft Original Footage: w French 75mm motorized, Mle14 MG, captured MG 08/15
Original footage from October 1918. The soldiers are part of the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) on the Western Front in France.
equipment seen in film
Canon de 75 modèle 1897
Canon Mle 1897 de 75 mm
French M1897 75mm field gun on the A De Dion-Bouton carriage and mount
(A De Dion-Bouton self-propelled gun)
MLE 1914 Hotchkiss machine gun
German MG 08/15 machine gun ( in use by US troops)
Bi Focal stereo optic Range Finder of unknown make
Dual automatic fuse setting machines
American Anti Aircraft assets are deployed in defence of an Observation Balloon. Observation Balloons were used by all sides. They allowed correction of artillery in real time via telephones and allowed direct observation big the enemy. They were thus a high priority target. As the balloons were filled with highly flammable hydrogen and anchored in place they needed protection. Late in the war balloons had dedicated anti aircraft guns of all sizes.
because they drew enemy aircraft predicability 'ambushes' of sorts were set up with concentrated anti air in depth as well as in some cases overwhelming air support close at hand.
My guess is this film is an 'ambush' of sorts as the variety and number of guns not to mention personal seems high. Late in the war as mobility returned in the form of a steady retreat and German combat capabilities eroded the allies began to have an excess of firepower in some sectors.
In this film AA assets include multiple vehicle mounted French M1897 75mm cannons. They utilize a stereo scopic range finder of unknown make ( to me anyway) and automatic fuse setting devices that allow the shells to detonate at the time of flight that puts them at the calculated range of target creating airburst or 'flak'.
Additionally a number of Hotchkiss Machine guns on AA mounts are deployed. Interestingly you can see how the rigid metal feed strips have been linked together to create a belt of sorts and allow continuous fire.
This footage also shows the use of a captured MG 08/15 by US troops. the MG08/15 was the 'light' German machine gun. a version of the MG 08. They seem to be struggling with the finiky nature of the Maxim 1908 and spend as much time with a blockage as firing. German machine gunners were highly tra
One observation balloon is downed no information on the observers fate.
A German plane is also downed. It is immediately overrun be 100s of AEF soldiers ... I deduce this is very late in the war October 1918 from the kit and US sophistication in AA. Only late
would they have this much gear in American hands rather than mixed with French. The US was completely unprepared material wise for the war. They depended on French and British weapons and specialist troops up til the end of fighting.
The US troops who crowd the crash site are most probably looking for souvenirs
Note the Pilot survives and his name appears in the Original captions.

German Spiked Helmets Pickelhauben: 101: An Introduction and Advice to Buyers
when you realize there are two of them side by side..waoooavv
I am so glad this video keeps getting views years later, and the people who watche it watch the whole thing. You either get it or you don't. I'm inspired to release a new video. Granatrnwerefer anyone?
It had a range of 30 miles and would leave a crater 30 feet in diameter, 20 feet deep.It was used against the germans and world war one on their base It was fired 46 times and. Airplanes used for reconnaissance would help them direct the fire
It was made in America by the Alco. American? . Locomotive works. In 1916. Notice, it doesn't have regular train car wheels. It has locomotive wheels. It's A M 1917. There was also an m nineteen eighteen and an m nineteen nineteen
100th comment
Hello there i found a pickelhaube in ebay but i didn't know if it's a mini or a wearable one, can you help me?
Send a link I'll take a look
noise :D
I didn’t know Obama collected pickelhaubens!
Uhhh and uhhh
Fascinating and very useful.
And the mdl 1893 feldflasche too, very use in the first world war. I have one in a good condition.
I have a French model 1858 dual spout canteen. I dug it up with my metal detector in a Tennessee cotton field. It was the site of a confederate camp and battlefield. (1862)
Why the ai voice at the beginning
you know a hat is good when it’s a symbol of an entire empire What’s the equivalent for the Roman or British Empire ?
Galea? For Rome, and Bowler ? for Britain... Maybe the overseas helmet during 19th century 🫤
This video is shit in the best way
White clothes- why
I have a ww1 enamelled bottle in mint condition like the one you have.
Is not the ww1 enameled bottle hard to find.
All of them are getting harder to find every year... Thanks for watching
I tapped out after the 300...Ah..
It's a problem... I'm ah working on it. Somehow Obama got away with it but I'm just annoying
They got this wrong in the recent Netflix version of All Quite on the Western Front... Used WW2 ones. They shoulda watched this video
Shit contribution
Pas mal n'est-ce pas ? C'est Français.
Ça est français pendant la première guerre mondiale
There was no no5 mkIII .there was no5 mk I (although no5 mkII Plugs was made..only a small amount was) it went from no5 mkI ..23 mkI.. 23 mkII Then body shape was changed and that was the no23 mkIII ..Then no36 mkI and finally no36m mkI .there was a no36 mkII But that was a practice grenade with a bigger gas check size threading for repeated rifle launching. Show the markings on the plug.
The helmet furthest to the left in the thumbnail has a buttplug.

Let me buy your collection
I own an original m17 stalhelm form the 1st german foot guard. I bought if for $160. found out that its worth more like $1200. one in worse condition sold for $1k and the shield decal was in worse condition and dint have the red 1 on the back to show its form the 1st regiment
This is completely unhelpful to a new collector. They are all fakes! One looks like it has a few original parts. Pickelhaube is not pronounced pickel hobb. Pickel how beh or buh
Your clearly not educated.

Great Videos brother! I’m a collector myself and have examples of all model pre 24 German sticks and a full case of M24’s & 43’s ( and eggs). Well done on the videos.
nice i was going to make an art of her in azur lane like art of her
У вас большая коллекция !, нужно сделать хорошую реставрацию. Я сам собираю коллекцию гранат - у меня их довольно много 40 - 50 штук, 1915-1945 года.
Great collection man love it
Can anyone tell me about the square-topped ones, I think they’re cavalry?
Yes they are ulhan chapkas. (Lancers)
Imagine how loud that shit is Im surprised they can still hear
Firing at enemies unseen, soundless are their screams. What a horrible war and what a horrible and terrifying catalyst for war.
Visited Port Arthur and been to Aoyama cemetery
Put that on a tank I dare you
Another great video. I appreciate the way you dealt with historical forces leading up and extending from these developments. I'm looking forward to reading some of your references. Thanks again!
I wish I'd taken a pic of the gun. Been wondering for years what it was. Agreed probably not PKM..but didn't fire those giant 12.7x109mm DShK rounds. Firing a DShK in a indoor shooting range woulda been an experience
That’s dshk, not pkm
Very interesting.
Are you from Canada? When I was a boy we had about ten cases of No.36's on the farm. Dad let me use them for blowing up beavers and dams because it was safer for a kid than using dynamite. I wish I knew what they are worth now, as I wouldn't have been so frivolous with throwing them.
Probably illegal to own them now
This is the best video on this subject I have ever seen . Love it
Wow. Thank you.
Very glad to have found this channel! Exceptionally informative and interesting.
Thanks much!
I've been researching how to authenticate picklauble helmet because there's a shop near me with one
I suggest kaisers bunker and pickelhaubes.com for starters. Good luck
From Buffalo, New York. Thank You for all the information, I learned a few things.
Haube = how-bah....the E at the end of the word is pronounced as an A.
Thanks 👍
Where is the french ww1 p1 "pear" hand grenade
Thanks for watching. The P1 was introduced in 1915. In this video I was just covering very early war grenades. I also am not lucky enough to have a real pear in my collection ...
